The fractional CO2 laser is a fractional ablative laser. It creates microscopic deep lesions in the dermis to induce the repair of damaged areas of the dermis (scars, wrinkles, fine lines…).
On the epidermal surface, fractional CO2 laser causes dermabrasion to smooth the edges of scars, wrinkles and fine lines.
The fractional CO2 laser is slightly more invasive than non-ablative lasers (such as the Fraxel Dual Restore laser), but its more superficial action is complementary. (Upper layers of the dermis)
The fractional CO2 laser works in fractionated mode, creating micro-lesions with each pass while preserving large gaps of healthy skin. This allows for easy follow-up and relatively quick recovery.
The main indications for the Fraxel Repair laser are
The fractional CO2 laser provides effective dermabrasion with an excellent risk-benefit ratio. Skin is firmer, smoother, more even, less wrinkled and less pigmented.
The after-effects of the fractional CO2 laser are slightly more restrictive than after a Fraxel Dual laser session: side effects include temporary redness, localized edema, and crusting for approximately ten days. Sun exposure shortly before or after the fractional CO2 laser session is strictly prohibited.
