We can’t stop time, but we can thwart its effects. The natural aging process doesn’t mean we have to give up the beauty of our youth. Polydioxanone (PDO) thread treatment is one of today’s rejuvenation solutions.
It is a minimally invasive technique performed on an outpatient basis.
It’s an innovative facial rejuvenation technique that offers the advantages of a non-surgical procedure with a very short recovery period. The material used consists of biodegradable sutures that have long been used in surgery.
The sutures are inserted under the skin with cannulas. They attach to the skin tissue and create tension in the desired direction. This causes the skin to stretch.
A local anesthetic is used for the treatment, and the sutures remain in the tissue for about 6 to 8 months. However, the effect lasts longer due to the collagen synthesis induced by the treatment.
Tensor threading should be repeated every year or so. Compared to a traditional facelift, tensor threading is a much lighter procedure. There is no visible scarring, healing is generally very fast, and there is little risk of pain or inflammation.
This method can be used on many parts of the face (cheeks, nasolabial folds, glabellar folds, frown lines, expression lines, forehead) and on the neck.
Yes, local anesthesia is usually sufficient for a painless procedure.
First, Dr. Molinari will mark the area where the sutures will be inserted and outline their path. A local anesthetic is injected with Xylocaine along the entire length of the thread path. The suture is then inserted very quickly, using a cannula to place it deep under the skin. This material is resorbable, but the revitalizing and tightening effect is permanent.
Yes, threading is minimally invasive and can easily be combined with other procedures such as hyaluronic acid injections, botulinum toxin or laser treatments.
Polydioxanone thread (PDO) is a widely used treatment. Swelling and temporary pain may occur after the treatment. These effects usually disappear on their own within a few hours. In rare cases, small hematomas may occur, but these heal without scarring. Infections are very rare but can occur and are easily treated with antibiotics. There are two minor restrictions to follow: no dental work should be done for two weeks after thread insertion, and no strenuous exercise should be done.
Treatment of aging with PDO tensor threads on the face and neck thwarts progressive sagging of the skin by creating a lifting effect without scarring or anesthesia.
In consultation, Dr. Molinari will determine the choice of thread appropriate to the treatment area. This anti-aging technique is applied to the face and body
